Frequently Asked Questions

Zartek Sport MP3 Player ZA-501/2 :

Q.

How many songs fit on the ZA50/,2 MP3 player?

A.

·      The ZA501/2 uses a flash memory with a capacity of 1GB.

·      Both MP3 and WMA (Windows Media Audio) file formats can be played. MP3 formats are less compressed than WMA. Approximately 200 MP3 or 400 WMA songs/tracks can be stored on the player. (Some songs will not be played as they require a licence)

·      70-140 hours of voice recording is possible depending on the type of compression chosen.

Q.

How is music transferred to the player?

A.

·      Connect the player to a computer using the included USB cable. The device will turn on and go into information transfer mode. If the computer is using Windows XP or 2000, the device will be detected automatically once it is plugged in and no drivers are needed. If Windows 98 is being used, drivers need to be installed from the CD provided before the computer can open the device.

·      Music can be transferred to the device using a media player program that has the function of copying or synchronizing to other devices. Music files could also be manually dragged across to the removable disk folder in “My Computer”. (Note: Remember to “safely remove the hardware” before disconnecting the player)

Q.

What type of battery does the player use and how long will they last?

A.

·      The ZA501 uses a single AAA battery that is included. Rechargeable AAA batteries can be used in the player.

·      Playtime duration depends on the battery used and the type of usage as the FM radio uses less power than reading music files from the internal memory. Typical playtimes are 10-20 hours.

·      The ZA502 has a built-in rechargeable Li-ion battery that cab be charged using a mains adaptor or by connecting the USB cable to a PC, laptop etc.

·      Recharge time is 4 hours and runtime approximately 8 hours.

Q.

How can the MP3 player be carried?

A.

·      A neckstrap and earphones are included so that the player can be worn around the neck. As the device is very light (29g without the battery) it is comfortable to walk or sit whilst listening to the radio or music tracks.

·      An armband and pouch is also included when listening to music whilst doing sport such as jogging or cycling. The pouch gives extra protection to the player although it is not water resistant.

Q.

Why do songs not play on the player and why does the player freeze ?

A.

·      Ensure that either WMA and MP3 formats are downloaded on the device. Some songs may contain copy protection or require licenses to play. These licence files will also be needed on the device or the songs will not play. If the player freezes up or does not play certain songs, remove the unplayable songs. Songs can be deleted using the "Delete" function on the player's menu or by connecting the player to a computer via the USB cable and removing the files.
